Project Life 2015 Week 42

Week 42 features my sub to Studio Calico Monthly Project Life® Kit.
Keeping it simple.

Week 42 supplies: Project Life kit; Studio Calico October kit (called Wink, Wink), translucent letter stickers; Just Add Color Project Life kit (HSN Exclusive), digital stamps/ word art on photos; Kellie Stamps Digital set " I am, You are, We are"

I simply added the translucent heart over the week 42 title card, stitched with my sewing machine, and added the stickers.  Measured the cards I wanted to add journaling to, and used Pages on my Mac to print directly on the PL cards. Simple and done!

Thank you for visiting this week in Project Life® album 2015,

10 Creative Ways To Use Digital Stamps: Blog Series Post Two

Hello crafty friends!
Today is the second post in my new blog series,
10 Creative Ways To Use Digital Stamps
featuring #KellieStamps.

IDEA #2: CUT IT!
Today we will be looking at using your digital stamps with an electronic die cutting machine.
I happen to own the Silhouette Cameo, so it's super easy to convert your SVG, PNG, or Studio files into a cut file using the TRACE feature on a Silhouette.

Here you can see the words at the top left corner from the Kellie Stamps Digital set
called "I am, You are, We are" and aren't the words amazing! (Dude, love that these are only $5) I love the font she uses, and it looks great paired with a script or handwritten font! I started in May of this year, using 6x8 blank pages in my Project Life Mini albums, and fell in love with the editorial style of the rectangle. So I am continuing to grow and adapt to this new way of designing! I LOVE it, and it seems so much easier for me!

Here are the steps to cut the digital stamps on a Silhouette (You can also search on You-tube for video tutorials on how to use digital files with your Silhouette) I learned a lot from Ashley Horton!
1) OPEN Silhouette Studio® Design Software. You can either double click on the digital stamp you have downloaded to your computer to put it on your Silhouette Workspace OR at the top left go to FILE>IMPORT>IMPORT TO LIBRARY
2) Move and size your digital stamp to suit your project ( the ones above are about an inch high )
3) Click at the top right in your Silhouette Workspace the TRACE icon ( it look like a butterfly in a blue square )
4) Click Select Trace area
5) Now move your cursor to make a rectangle around your digital stamp you want to turn into a cut file AND THEN UNCHECK HIGH PASS FILTER
6) Click  TRACE
7) Move the original digital stamp off your workspace by dragging it with the cursor.
8) Send to Silhouette to cut
9) Make something pretty with your digital stamp cut files! :)

Close up of the cut file, and note how I stitched through it with a sewing machine. Love the texture it adds when working with a neutral palette.

Ha! Love this funny girl!

Week 16 Project Life 2015

Hi Project Life loving friends!
Sharing Project Life spread for week 16, April 13-19 of 2015.

Using Studio Calico April Project Life kit called Lisse Street. Main kit and the 4x6 card under the title came from the cards included with my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool, ordered from Studio Calico. LOVE theses cards designed by Ali Edwards in this month's kit. Chose the nice and soft peach and soft blue and mustard with a little green to go with the dog photo.

Added a couple of embellishments, the chipboard arrow included in the kit, and the gray phrase stickers.

Cut up the green 3x4 card to go at the bottom and stitched on the chipboard "&". Minimal embellishments this week.

Thank you for visiting the Artful Leigh Creative!

Sharing Project Life 2015: Week 15

Week 15 Project Life share.
Went with black and white again to keep the focus on the very colorful photos.
You could change all  the photos to black and white, but in this case we wanted to remember the Prom dresses in COLOR!

Details below on how to add text on the photos without using Photoshop.

Design F page protector on left side by BeckyHiggins LLC. Left page cards: blank white one created using the FREE neutral cards in the Project Life APP, then saved to DropBox and opened in the Rhonna Farrer APP called  Rhonna Designs. I typed my journaling in the Rhonna App because I liked this editorial style font in italic. It seemed to go with the dress search photos. Dotted 3x4 card is from my Etsy Shop. Used Kellie Stamps with white heat embossing on black card stock for the "#ILOVEYOU"

Right Page: cards are from Studio Calico June Project Life kit (Galileo). The title for the week, and word "Document" on the right page were also created in the same fashion as above and I printed it out on glossy photo paper to get a crisp black. Experiment with your printer to find the best settings , that's how I get what I like:)

Doing the journaling in the Rhonna Designs App meant the font matched the font on the photos (also added in the Rhonna Designs App). Yep, I like that!

How I used inexpensive containers to organize my current Project Life monthly kits and Stamps by Artful Leigh Creative.

Want to Organize your most used stamps and monthly kits?

Here's simple organizational tip using the Target Dollar Spot bins that are two for a dollar.
I found that I am more likely to use the stamps and my current monthly kits if they are out on my desk where I can easily flip through them.

Quick and inexpensive storage ideas can be functional and pretty.
I showed the bins and the labels up close in a post a couple of weeks ago, so let's get to it.

Just choose your fav colors

These bins are easily accessed from both sides of the craft desk so I put them in the middle.

Watch the video below for a quick three minute run through of how you can implement this super inexpensive and functional idea.

Project Life 2015 Week 14

I had a rainbow of colors in the photos for week 14, so black and white Project Life cards
were perfect. Heck, they are ALWAYS perfect in my book! Love black and white!

"Bliss" Card from Studio Calico Carolina Moon (May PL kit), woodgrain card from Studio Calico Cirque PL Kit (Feb 2015) , and all the rest of the cards are from Artful Leigh Creative on Etsy. The font on the photos is from the Rhonna Farrer app, Rhonna Designs available in the app store.

The copper stars came in the Studio Calico May PL kit Carolina Moon,  and I absolutely love how they bring out the copper color in the pet painting I did, and the Brioche burger bun...
You can enhance and emphasize the colors in your photos by choosing embellishments mindfully and being aware of their color. Repetition is a design principle that helps unify the pages in your albums.

I like adding journaling in Photoshop, because its like two birds one stone. I am printing the photo at home anyway, so adding the journaling before printing is a win, win for me!

Project Life Easy Tip For Getting More Out of Your Cards

A quick and easy tip for getting more out of your Project Life Cards. Using punches to alter cards and using them in other projects.
Easy step by step layout photos and an easy way to alter your Project Life cards: PUNCHES. Yes, I used a new "Rhombus" punch by EK Success to quickly create all the diamond shapes for this layout.

STEP 1: PUNCH LOTS OF YOUR DESIRED SHAPE OUT OF COORDINATING PAPER

I used Maggie Holmes: Confetti line, Project Life Mini Kit by Maggie Holmes: Maggie Holmes Edition, New Project Life Value Kit by Heidi Swapp: September Skies, Studio Calico Odyssey PL kit from March 2015, American Crafts DIY shop:Gold Dots Vellum, and Studio Calico March add-on Paper pad, Heidi Swapp Color Shine, and Amy Tangerine: Rise and Shine papers

STEP 2: PLACE ON YOUR BACKGROUND PAPER UNTIL YOU HAVE ENOUGH TO COVER THE DESIRED AREA.

Here I am adding texture by using a Studio Calico Screen Print Screen and pink paint.

I used a tiny amount of glue in the CENTER ONLY  of the diamonds, then stitched with sewing machine so I could lift up the top and bottom edges of each diamond  to create more texture on the page.

STEP 3: LEAVE A SPACE FOR YOUR DESIRED PHOTOS TO GO

STEP 4: CUT PAPER TO GO BEHIND YOUR PHOTOS

Here I used a Studio Calico paper from the March PL kit add-on and Amy Tangerine:Rise and Shine woodgrain paper.

STEP 5: EMBELLISH WITH YOUR CHOICE OF MIST, DIE CUTS, SEQUINS, CHIPBOARD, OR ANY EMBELLISHMENTS YOU LIKE.

Here I have the finished layout after Heidi Swapp Color Shine and washi tape and Title from Studio Calico Class taught by Wilna Furstenberg and Heidi Swapp PL Value kit September Skies die cuts and Maggie Holmes sequin pack.

Final Close-up

Wednesday Project Life Share 2015

Here's a closer look at Week 12 now in the books, and isn't it nice that you can see both pages at once here on the blog?  I usually share one page at a time on Instagram.

Week 12: All supplies Studio Calico: March Project Life Kit (Odyssey), add-on paper pad, add-on washi tape, word art created in Photoshop.

Again this week, I had no camera photos,  and all pics are from my I-phone 6+. This PL spread went super quick, as I only added journaling in two spots and the title.  I was trying to  decide what to do with the map cards, but then I got the idea to journal from an "our place in this world" perspective, and I am glad. Sometimes journaling a few weeks later helps, in that you can focus on a feeling, or thought instead of "we went here, and did this". Both perspectives totally work, and are used all the time by me and other PL'ers, but I like having a variety also.

Thanks for visiting today, and happy documenting!

2015 Project Life Share [March Pages] and #hastagthisweek

I have two Project Life double page layouts to share today,
so that you can get a closer look at what I shared on Instagram.
Using the March Studio Calico Project Life Kit
called Odyssey, and some cards by me.

Week 11 right side: using some cards from my Paper Hearts and Loving Words set on Etsy, and some Photoshop word art for the journaling.

Week 11 left side. Patterned Paper Pad add-on from Studio Calico, and a Studio Calico wood veneer typewriter. Paperclips from Target.
This week was a bit of a challenge due to the fact that I had NO 4x6 photos to work with, but after I decided to use them as 3x4 in the 4x6 pockets, it all worked out easy enough. That's one of the things I love about Project Life, it simply works, no matter what pics you have!!

Week 11:Both sides together

Week 10 right side: Studio Calico PL Kit, Heidi Swapp Star, and an office supply Target Paper clip. Loved the aqua labels that came in this month's kit, and just added word art in Photoshop and cut them out to go on top of the labels. sequin stars and speech bubble from old SC kits in 2014.

Week 10 left side: SC PL kit March (Odyssey), word art in Photoshop by me.

Week 10: Both sides

#hashtagthisweek from Mandy at TurqouiseAvenue is the photograph your town prompt. This is my FAV photo I took on a photo walk down main street Henderson, Nevada. The photos of active military personnel that are proudly honored here is my FAV! Always proudly supporting the military here!!

Thank you for joining me here.
