#LittleSummerJOY Lesson 4: Day In Your Life

I can't even tell you how much this project means to me,
to be able to record in a traveler's notebook all the #LittleSummerJoy2016!!!!

I am LOVING it!!!
The outside pages for Lesson 4: Double fold out (both sides open) also called a tip-in for all you pro Traveler's Notebook/Planner fans! Supplies: Kellie Stamps(Slim Jim Alphabet), Clique Kits July 2016 Kit, Tsukineko Memento Marker (for Brush Script), Ali Edwards Time Stamp, Studio Calico (asterisk puffy stickers), Midori Traveler's Notebook Insert #2 (grid)

Inside pages both folded out: Stamps: Kellie Stamps , and Kelly Purkey,  Clique Kits July Kit

Close up inside left page: Tag pocket from Michael's Recollections. Placed the tags with three more photos in the pocket, close ups below...

 tag fronts...

tag backs

Used the marker again to hand letter the brush script title. Then Sharpie marker for the subtitle and journaling here. Took three photos from my Grand Canyon shots and printed all three at 3x4 so they would fit inside this fold out. We had over a 180* degree view of the South Rim here!

Bottom right inside pages: kept the embellishments close to the photos since I had a total of two Instax, three 3x4, and three photos in the tag pocket, so eight photos inside this fold out! yay!

Thank you so much for joining me here today!
Hugs,
Leigh

Kellie Stamps July 2016 Release

Hello friends!
Time for another new Kellie Stamps Release!

This month, the stamps are perfect for all your indoor and outdoor adventures!

Supplies: Kellie Stamps new for July 2016, "Outdoorsy" and "Therapy", all other supplies from Studio Calico

The diamond shape is from the "Outdoorsy" set, which comes blank and I added the text (color matched to the coral color in the photo in Photoshop). Then added the stars from the "Therapy" set, and they come in a row of five, so I simply repeated the rows in the Layers Panel, in Photoshop. The stars on the photo are the same stars used on the background, just reduced in size and filled in with the same coral color.

You can totally accomplish this with the physical clear stamps from Kellie Stamps as well, if Photoshop isn't your thing!

I do  love the hybrid aspect of the digital stamps, being able to design a Travelers Notebook page and print it out at home with the background all "stamped" is perfect for me!

Applied washi tape at the same angle as the stars, on both pages, then added some fun embellishments and paper from several different Studio Calico Kits (Aug. 2015 Pop Art, and June 2016 Scout) . Printed out journaling in a text box and stitched around before adhering to the page.

Close up: LOVE tying the background to the top layers by repeating the stars! Simple to do with the Kellie Stamps sets!

Thanks for joining me today!
Leigh

#LittleSummerJOY 2016: Lesson 3 - Get Into Your Story

Get Into Your Story is this week's prompt!
I am so happy with this week's ideas posted over at

For #LittleSummerJOY2016 Lesson 3, we are to focus on the story. This was the perfect solution for our summer trip to Magic Mountain, where we were so focused on experiencing the moments together and quickly getting to the next ride on our "Big Thrills" list! I took so few photos, but was uber immersed in the joy of the experience.

When I got home and started to put together the rest of my traveler's notebook (started on the trip), I got stuck at the Magic Mountain day that we spent from open to park close riding big rides! #LittleSummerJOy prompt to the rescue! The journaling on the left was all completed at the hotel room during our trip. I simply added the Pinkfresh Studio Life Noted paper from the July Clique Kits at the bottom to make a pocket for the couple photos I do have from that day.

Here are the three tags that fit in the pocket. Two have photos and the journaling on the back.  The Six Flags park map ride descriptions were a perfect way to include the info and a checkmark for each ride we experienced, on the third tag.

The tag fronts: check marked all the rides we went on so that we can always remember how much fun we had together!!

This traveler's notebook spread has a lot of the story, and now I feel at peace with that, and able to find joy in the moments we did capture.

#LittleSummerJOY: Lesson 2 Hometown Exploring

This is such an amazing class!
#LittleSummerJOY led me to explore a local desert demonstration garden
and use my travelers' notebook to log
an evening geocaching adventure with my bestie!
Such a great prompt and ideas from the
website!!

Both the geocaching and the desert demonstration gardens were a first for me! That is what is so cool about the prompts for #LittleSummerJOY, they get me out of my comfort zone and exploring new adventures and moments! More ways to be thankful for the everyday, the simple and the new joys this summer!

SUPPLIES: The Clique Kits July Kit , Project Life® Happy Place Journal Card, Digital stamp on the right photo from Kellie Stamps July Release

Happy Fourth of July 2016 Layout: Shimelle Design Team

Happy Fourth of July friends!
Hope you have a blessed and fun filled day with your loved ones today!

I had so much fun seeing how many stars I could get on the page for this week's "Go Overboard with Stars" Challenge.

For the first layer of stars, I used Whipped Spackle texture paste, and a Silhouette cut file to create a star stencil.

Then I layered several other textures in star shapes as shown. Think vellum, patterned paper, stamps, stickers, and embellishments like the acrylic stars from Shimelle. In the photo above I used an X-acto knife to trim around the acrylic star, and don't you love how it is adhesive backed like a sticker? I do!

Next, I wanted to create more dimension, so I used the Counting Stars cut file from the Cut Shoppe, and backed it with Shimelle True Stories, and Starshine papers. Making sure to leave some of the stars open, adds another layer of interest.

Using the Minc Machine to add gold foil to the Shimelle cards created more texture on the page and repeats the star shape.   Going for lots of repetition here!

Stamping near the three embellishment clusters around the page in navy, and aqua for another layer of stars!

Here you can see a close up of the title and photo layers. The Shimelle Fitzgerald Thickers are a favorite font of mine.

Stitching down the vellum stars with a zig zag stitch, and adding the punched cork stars, gave lots of interest to the page with a variety of textures.
Choosing to add the stars in different textures around the page was a lot of fun! How many different layers of this repeating shape can you get on your layout?

I can't wait to see what you all have to share, and your take on this challenge!

Have fun!

Hugs,
Leigh
