Studio Calico Color Theory Class Scrapbook Page "My First Six Paintings"

This page was also made in participation of the Amy Tangerine "Design On Time" video series on You-tube which was loads of fun!

Loved putting photos of  all of my paintings so far on one layout. Used Liquitex Heavy Gloss Gel mixed with the SC Color Theory paints, and spread them on with a popsicle stick. Fun and quick drying! The Design On Time challenge by Amy Tangerine was to use paper straws, cupcake liners, and the idea "stretch yourself" by trying something that I adored as a kid, acrylic painting. In 2010, I took up acrylic painting again with my daughter, and Mom. The time limit was 15 minutes, totally blew that but just had to glue down everything after the timer went off:)

Is there something you can try today to challenge yourself? Join in the fun and add to your creativity today!

Here you can see the Amy Tangerine Rise And Shine line die cuts and the Studio Calico and Amy Tangerine paper behind the photos. The frame around the goldfish painting is from Heidi Swapp Memory Planner line.

Week 7: Project Life 2015

Loving the wood veneer included in this month's Cirque, Studio Calico Project Life Kit, so used it as my week title pocket.

Week 7: All SC PL kit Cirque, except for the black arrow paper behind the wood veneer, that's from a 2014 Studio Calico Card Kit. My handwriting and the Collect photo app make for a super quick weekly PL spread!

Lots of love this week, thank you for visiting!

Papers behind the photo are lots of layers of Studio Calico Card kit paper, and the embellies are all from previous card kits as well.

Finished layout, love getting artsy in this class.

2015 Project Life: Week 6

Sharing week six using the Studio Calico Monthly Project Life kit called Cirque, and it's a beauty!! Nice pink, aqua, and yellow cards this month.

Week 6: left side Design A Becky Higgins LLC. page protector, right side Design Q Becky Higgins LLC. page protector with 3 4x4 pockets in the center. Right page uses the Studio Calico Ringmaster add-on, that  came with that gorge tribal washi, 4x4 transparent cards ( middle ) and laser cut wood veneer words "yeah, hustle, and February" and much more. Love it! The top right 4x6 card is from the Heidi Swapp "Favorite Things" Project Life Core Kit, with one gold sequin from the SC kit. The first yellow 4x4 card on the left of the right page is simply the SC kit title card, and I covered up the words in the center with a photo, quick and easy.

Thanks for visiting and happy documenting!

Participating in the new Studio Calico Color Theory Class with Wilna Furstenberg

For Lesson One we did Primary colors, and I chose tints and shades of yellow, so a monochromatic color scheme. The neutrals don't count , and my art and design teachers always said to add lots of neutrals when working with a strong color.

Lots of white, black and gray to temper the strong yellow. I loved using the Studio Calico Silk Screens that came with this class pictured above top left. All Patterned paper, and embellishments are from Studio Calico except the Hobby Lobby gray pleated ribbon, the Michaels Recollections floral ribbon on top of that and the Ki Memories Pop Culture (older Product ) lace paper.

I painted molding paste with light shade of yellow (Color Theory Studio Calico) paint, and added the silk screen over several areas. then let that dry and went back over with a darkened version of the same yellow to bring out the impasto look.

I like how there is lots of interest created with all the texture going on here.

All these embellishments came in Studio Calico previous card kits, and since I have them organized by color it was easy to find them. Studio Calico Mist in Clay splattered as well as india ink.

I absolutely LOVE taking this class and it really prompts me to use colors and supplies that are out of my comfort zone, and of course Wilna Rocks!!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my little Artful Leigh Creative Studio!
