1 Canoe 2 Willow collection: Simple Cards

Hello friends! Leigh here, sharing a set of three simple cards with the brand new Willow collection from One Canoe Two! This collection has lots of pretty watercolor elements, so I chose to create stamped rose gold floral accents to coordinate with all three cards. By creating all the stamping first, you can make quite a few simple cards with the addition of some die cuts.

Starting with the new Vicki Boutin Wildflower Stamp and Die Set, stamp several flowers, leaves and a bee with rose gold ink. I used the new Vicki Boutin metallic color wheel, because it has lots of different metallic ink colors to choose from. Then, heat emboss all the stamped images at once. Watercolor some of the flowers, if you like, then die cut your stamped images.

For this first card, I inked a new American Crafts embossing folder with sea foam ink. When you run the embossing folder through your machine, it inks the background (a tip learned from Jennifer McGuire). Then, I added Willow Die Cuts, stickers, and rose gold enamel dots to the dry embossed panel, and placed it on a card front.

The pretty pink Simple Pleasures paper forms the base of this card. I added a sticker to the journaling die cut, and layered it with a tag from the die cut ephemera pack. Attach the tag cluster with two flowers and three rose gold enamel dots to the card and you are done!

The last card has a script word background, found on the B side of the Ambrose Floral paper from the Willow collection. An oval frame die cut forms the sentiment on this card. By layering a die cut, tag, then the oval frame, you create a quick focal point cluster for this card. I then added the stamped bee and flower to add some more metallic shine to this card. I like to add some sort of metallic or shiny element to my simple paper layer cards, to create interest. The three rose gold enamel dots create a visual triangle around the focal point cluster.

The five steps for simple assembly line style cards:
  1. Stamp and heat emboss at least seven images, like florals and leaves.
  2. Watercolor with Vicki Boutin Watercolor Markers and a Water Brush
  3. Die Cut the stamped images
  4. Add a dry embossed or patterned paper panel to each card
  5. Layer die cuts, stickers, stamped images, and enamel dots to each card

Thank you for joining me today for a set of simple cards with new supplies from the Willow  collection, and Vicki Boutin.
