Shimelle's Weekly Challenge, Go Monochromatic

For this week's challenge at
we're going monochromatic.
Pick one color,
(neutrals like black, white, gray, and brown don't count of course, because they are NOT colors and aren't on the color wheel)
and scrapbook with tints and shades of that color.
Blue-green is my fave, so obviously that was my choice!

Using Kellie Stamps new March 2016 Release "Go See Do" and American Crafts Shimelle Starshine paper. Simply used the digital stamps set from Kellie Stamps to create custom patterned paper using the "Road Trip" stamp and color matched it with the eyedropper tool in Photoshop, so that it would coordinate with the Shimelle Starshine paper. Starshine papers used: Galileo, Phoenix, and Rosetta.

This layout is based on a layout from Geralyn Sy at Studio Calico:

Just a few embellishments from my Clique Kits Feb. Kit.

Thanks for visiting today, and happy crafting!

Ten Creative Ways To Use Digital Stamps: Idea Eight

Here we are already at idea number eight!
Using the Kellie Stamps November set: Summer 2016

IDEA #8: SAVE IT!

So this week, I wanted to show you how you can save your work after you alter a digital stamp and use it to create a Project Life® card! IF you remember from last week, we altered a digital stamp to color in one of the letters. Any of the previous week's ideas would work well also!

I saved the file from last week, under a new name, but in the same folder as the rest of the Summer 2016 stamps from Kellie Stamps . Simply added the file to a 3x4 template in Photoshop, and printed it along with a photo on a 4x6 photo paper. This way I didn't waste the photo paper when I had only one more photo to print for this week! Win, win.

Week 47 Left Side
Supplies: Becky Higgins LLC. Photo Pocket Pages, Project Life® Everyday Edition, Kellie Stamps Digital Stamp set "Summer 2016", and Studio Calico Project Life® Kit Canyon Lands (November 2015)

Week 47 both sides: "Sun-kissed" and "Hello Sunshine" from the Summer 2016 Kellie Stamps set, Adobe Photoshop CC2014, Becky Higgins LLC. Photo Pocket Pages Design A, Studio Calico Montly Project Life® Kit (November 2015 Canyon Lands), Project Life® Everyday Edition, You-version Bible App for the right hand page first 3x4 card on the left.

By saving the digital stamp I was able to quickly add it and create my own 3x4 card on the left that matched the right hand side. I like to add repeating elements to both sides to keep a cohesive look.

Thank you so much for joining me, and happy digital stamping!!

Ten Creative Ways To Use Digital Stamps: Idea Seven

This week features idea number seven in the series!!

IDEA #7: COLOR IT!

Another great thing about digital stamps, is that you can use the eyedropper tool to sample any color you like, to create colors in your digital stamps!!

Supplies: Kellie Stamps "Summer of 2016" set available at http://kelliestamps.bigcartel.com

I simply used the eyedropper tool in Photoshop, to sample the coral cloud color!!

STEPS: 1) open desired digital stamp (PNG file) in Photoshop
              2) make sure you have that stamp selected in the LAYERS palette
              3) over in the layers palette, at the bottom, click FX, and select "STROKE"
              4) (I used a 5 pixel white border on the above stamp) select your color and width of border
                  and click okay.
              5) click on the eyedropper tool in the left toolbar, and sample any color you wish. (I clicked on the coral color in the clouds above)
              6) in left toolbar, toggle the foreground color to the one you've sampled
              7) click on the paint bucket tool, and click inside the letter you want to fill (I filled the "S" above)
              8) select your altered stamp in the layers palette, and drag it to your project, in my case it was this sunset photo
              9) Resize if necessary
              10) In the main top toolbar, click on the layers button, then flatten your layers.
              11) save your project
               12) I usually click the "X" and "Do Not Save Changes" to keep the original digital stamp/PNG file, or you can save the new stamp creation you've made UNDER ANOTHER FILE NAME!! :) Don't forget to rename it or you have changed the original stamp permanently.

This is the way I do it, but I am no Photoshop Instructor. It takes practice, but you can do this!

Thank you so much for joining me today, and happy digital stamping!!

Ten Creative Ways to use Digital Stamps: Featuring Natalie Elphinstone and Tracey Holdyk!

Hello Crafters!
This week, I am featuring two of my fellow Kellie Stamps Creative Team members,
Natalie and Tracey both used digital stamps in a super creative way this week.....

IDEA#5:Print on Patterned Paper

Natalie's finished page, it looks so FAB! This is such a creative use for digital stamps, and I thank Natalie for allowing me to use her pictures and feature her here this week!! You can click on Natalie's name at the top of this post to head over to her blog and check out her work!

Ten Creative Ways To Use Digital Stamps: Idea 4

Hello Friends!
This week we will look at idea number four.
White It Out.

Idea #4: WHITE IT OUT

One of the great things about using digital stamps, is that you don't have to buy every color of ink pad to use them, and I think it's a lot simpler to create white text with a digital stamp. I have tried several ink pads, but none of them gave me the crisp clean result of white digital stamps!

Supplies: Kellie Stamps Digital "I AM, You Are, We Are" set, and Studio Calico Project Life kit for October (Wink, Wink is the name) and letter stickers from the Project Life HSN kit "Just Add Color"

For this Week 42 Project Life® page, I used the Kellie Stamps digital set " I am, You are, We are" for the text on the top right photo "Liking".

Step One:In Photoshop I simply go to File> Open> select desired digital stamp> Double Click To Open.
Step Two: Click on the stamp image in Photoshop to select it. In the Layers palette on the right, click and drag your digital stamp onto your project or photo. Then in the top header bar (with your digital stamp selected) go to Image>Hue/Saturation>and on the slider bar slide the lightness all the way to white.

The courses I have completed this year in Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator, have taught me that you use white text if your background is colored, and black text only if your background is white or very light. In other words, always use white text over a color, as in the Studio Calico Project Life® 3x4 cards above. That's super easy with digital stamps!!

Thank you for joining me today for this tip on the advantage of using digital stamps to "White It Out"!

Ten Creative Ways To Use Digital Stamps, Idea Three

Thanks for joining me today, for the third post in this series.

IDEA #3: CAPTION IT!

For this week's post, we are focusing on ways to use your digital stamps, or PNG files as captions.

SUPPLIES: Kellie Stamps Digital sets, "Kiddo",  Project Life® Core Kit: Heidi Swapp Prismatic, wood veneer: Pinkfresh Studios from Clique Kits. I created captions with the "So Proud" Kellie Stamp, and the "You're Awesome".

You can create your own caption at the top of a blank 3x4  (or any size you want!) card and leave space for journaling. I created this card in Adobe Photoshop, but any program that allows you to import PNG or JPEG files will work. I simply add shapes and color them in with the eyedropper tool in Photoshop, like the two triangles above. I  clicked the eyedropper on my son's shirt, and got the magenta color that coordinated with the Heidi Swapp Prismatic Project Life® cards. The possibilities are endless, and you are only limited by the number of shapes you can imagine.

If you don't have any journaling, but need a filler card, you can move the shape with the digital stamp to the center of the card. Move it anywhere you like, that's the beauty of digital stamps!  Click Edit, or undo and try again!

You can also use digital stamps to create captions on your photos. I like to place them in the blurry background, as I did here with the Kellie Stamps Digital "Kiddo" set. You can draw attention to a specific feature in the photo by your placement. Here, attention is focused on her eye by lining the stamp up with her eyes.

Try out some digital stamping , and creating journaling or filler cards with your digital supplies. It definitely adds to your crafty arsenal and makes your supplies stretch farther.

Completed Week In The Life™ 2015 You-tube Video

Yes, doing a happy dance!
My video is LIVE now!!

It's complete!! A big HUGE thank you to Ali Edwards for this amazing project, free prompts, and encouragement! I can't even begin to tell you how much I treasure this completed album! It captures in detail the last week of our summer, and one of the last weeks our son lived at home ( he moved out to his first college apartment!) While it was emotionally difficult, the journaling, photos, and memories were cathartic. The focused and deliberate recording of these moments helped me through. Thank you to the #WeekInTheLife FB group as well!!

All links are in the DESCRIPTION BOX on the You-tube video! :)
but here's a link to Ali Edwards
