Updated Craft Room Organization!!

Hi friends! I hope you watch my video below to see how I organize the three new Alex Units I recently added to my craft room! After being on the American Crafts Design Team for two years, I had to reorganize many boxes of new product! That's a fun thing for you, if you love to see organizational videos! :)

Craft Room Organization Heidi Swapp Inspired Pegboard

I was inspired by Heidi Swapp's large striped wall
in her craft room and wanted to paint gold stripes on
my craft room pegboard.

The pegboard measures 6 feet wide by 3 feet tall and I am here to encourage you, because I made and installed this all by myself! You probably can too!

I call it the American Crafts wall! Almost everything on here is under the American Crafts umbrella of companies! Love them!

STEP 1: Tape off and paint in color of choice. I used Rustoleum Metallic Gold Spray Paint

STEP 2: PEEL TAPE OFF TO REVEAL CRISP CLEAN EDGES :)

STEP 3 AND 4: Miter your painted frame/molding (number the back as you go for easier placement later) and hang by 1"x2" boards secured to the studs with long wood screws, I used a stud finder to locate them. Tip for easily hanging the 1x2's by yourself---I marked the edge of the boards once I got them level. I found the studs and marked them with a pencil, then drilled through the level 1x2's into the wall with a drill bit same diameter as your wood screws. I then placed a long nail through the hole created with the drill to hold the 1x2's in the wall while I secured them with screws at the other end:)

STEP 5: Use Liquid Nails or Loc-Tite (construction adhesive of choice) to attach moldings and clamp  with heavy duty clamps until it grabs hold. Then pre drill small holes for the finishing brads and hammer them in through the molding and into the 1"x2" secured boards. Countersink them with a countersink tool so they are less noticeable when covered with caulking.

STEP 6: NO PIC- APPLY CAULKING TO THE FRAME'S BRAD HOLES AND  CORNERS TO HIDE THE SEAM.

STEP 7: Have fun hanging and organizing your stuff!!!

I added the raw pine boards that I cut with my jig-saw by pegboard shelf hooks.

Target dollar bins 2/$1 from about six months ago finally have a spot.

 Planning Station below the pegboard.

Close up my "Shine Bright" and letters "A" and "L" for Artful Leigh:)

Wide angle lens used to capture the entire wall.

Here is a short You-Tube video about this project if you would like to watch, thank you for visiting and have fun organizing!!

Planner, Blogging, Photo Station in my Craft Room Organizing and Updating Time! or Workspace Wednesday!

Welcome to the newly updated Planner area,  and insert song here " I'm all about that gold, 'bout that gold,  no clutter"!  Adding a few gold touches and organizing to get rid of what's not working in this space and create an uplifting, useful space for what is working right now.

It's like coming home to your professional barista after having instant hotel room coffee, in other words, REFRESHING. You know what I'm talking about, don't you get the urge to update and organize every January?  So here we go...
See the new gold stuff? Squee!

Hit the Target Dollar Spot for some mint and gold goodness, and made a little inspirational card to go in this frame from a friend. The Becky Higgins Project Life solid color cards from the Blush Core kit, and some Heidi Swapp Foil Value Kit from Michael's chipboard( the diamond) made for a quick update. Just wrote "Shine Bright" with a Sharpie Paint Pen in Gold.

This is where I use the different planners to stay organized and the gold dot planner from Sugar and Paper at Target matches my new IPhone. Yay. So it is my Project Life Planner for this year and I write down everything that happens each day and which photos are taken with what technology. I will show a sample of the inside if you are interested. Ordered two more planners today, one specifically for Bible Study, and my first Kikki K. Planner in Gold!! They are on the way!

Some gold bits and Gold washi tape, for decorating my Project Life album and my planners.

Thanks for joining me today for Workspace Wednesday, Planner Station update!!

DIY Cork Board Tutorial

This simple cork board tutorial has only three materials. Super simple guys whoop, whoop!!

#1--Take the glass and backing out of your frame.
#2--Use the backing to draw a line on your foam core and cork.
#3--Cut out both pieces and I used my ATG gun to adhere the cork sheet to the foam core(to prevent slipping)
#4--Place in frame and fold down the prongs on back(frames with the metal prongs to hold in the picture work best in my experience )

Thank you for visiting, and be sure to comment and subscribe to my blog.

DIY Craft Table Tutorial

Pinned over 20,000 times.
Thank you for reading my
DIY
CRAFT TABLE TUTORIAL

This is the photo on my DIY Pinterest Board.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled tutorial to bring you this PSA. Think safety first!!  Please don't forget to wear safety goggles, earplugs, and a mask:)) This is me using the power sander to redo our stairway.  Now onto the DIY Craft Table Tutorial!!

My craft table was made using the following tools: The size depends on the size of your room, and allowing for a 3-4 foot clearance on all sides. My table is 6 feet x 4 feet.

*3/4 inch thick Birch Plywood (cut to size at your home improvement store)
*carpenter's wood glue ( I used Gorilla Wood Glue)
*finishing nails
*stainable wood putty
*drill(bit size= smaller than your finishing nails)
*red oak trim molding(enough to fit around your table, cut to size at store) mine came to 20ft.
*stain of choice( I used Minwax Stain and Sealer in Bombay Mahogany)
*power sander
*3/4 inch square dowel
*safety gear( Earplugs, mask, goggles)
*work gloves
*countersink tool
*stain applicators of choice(read the back of your stain can to see if it recommends a brush or staining cloth)

Apply wood glue along edge of your tabletop and place trim , hold in place while you drill a pilot hole through the trim and tabletop. Countersink your finishing nails. Repeat for all sides. Apply wood putty over the nails and sand after dry.

Countersink tool.

My red oak molding came in 20 foot sections, so in order to use one piece, I just had the home improvement store make straight cuts the same length as the sides of my tabletop. Then to fill in the gap at the corners, I used a 3/4 inch square dowel and attached it with wood glue and finishing nails. I used the power sander to create the detail to somewhat match the molding trim piece.

Apply stain according to the directions on your can,  and allow to dry appropriate time before placing on your bases. Enjoy your handiwork!! Thank you for visiting today and don't forget to subscribe and comment to make my day:)
